In honor of the 160th anniversary of the birth of local heroine and international dance phenomenon Loie Fuller, join us for a screening of the 2010 Documentary “Loie Fuller: Dancing in the Light Fantastic.” This screening will be followed by a Q and A with Megan Slayter, Professor of Dance at Western Michigan University. The director and executive producers of the film, Michael Dutka and Stephanie Clemens, will be happy to answer questions via email after the film as well
Loie Fuller was born at the Castle Inn in then-Fullersburg, IL in 1862. Known for her innovative choreography, Loie danced in Chicago and across the country before making her Paris debut in 1892 where she became arguably the most famous dancer in the world. Now, 160 years since her birth, Loie's hometown of Hinsdale celebrates her life with a series of events sponsored by the Hinsdale Public Library, Hinsdale Historical Society, Fullersburg Foundation, and District 181 Foundation.
