Meet on the plaza (or indoors in the event of rain) to discuss your interest in a position on the Friends of the Library Board. Refreshments will be served.
The Friends of the Hinsdale Public Library is a small but mighty local nonprofit group that helps fund and run some of the Library's most beloved programs and initiatives. HPL After Dark, our quarterly series of concerts, lectures, and trivia competitions, is largely funded by this group and the donations they solicit. The Friends also purchase the books the Library distributes in the Village's Fourth of July parade, sponsors our weekly Coffee and Conversation group, funds a scholarship given to college-bound employees, and more.
The Friends are looking for a few new faces on their board! If you are looking for a way to give back to the Library and the community without stretching yourself too thin, please meet us on the plaza to chat! The Friends generally meet for about an hour once each quarter and generally attend some of our quarterly After Dark events. Board members might help brainstorm event ideas, solicit prize donations for trivia night, write thank-you notes, or track donations—on average, active Friends spend no more than an hour or two on their duties each month.
