Learn how to integrate AI into your daily life while being safe and avoiding scams. This hands-on class taught by Hinsdale Central researcher Isa Ibrahim will cover a new topic each of the 3 sessions.

Discover how to safely and confidently use artificial intelligence (AI) in your daily life. Taught by Hinsdale Central student researcher Isa Ibrahim, founder of VolksAI. This hands-on workshop covers practical tools that can help you write, plan, organize, and protect yourself online. No prior tech experience is needed.

Participants are encouraged to bring a phone, tablet, or laptop. Library Chromebooks will be available for those who need a device. Each session includes simple demonstrations, printed handouts, and time for guided practice.

August 4: What Is AI

• What artificial intelligence actually means, in plain language
• Where AI already shows up in your life, such as maps, shopping, or voice assistants
• Demonstration: Using AI to write a thank-you letter or recipe
• Hands-on activity: Try asking AI to write a message or plan a simple meal
• Take-home guide: How to use tools like ChatGPT or Google Gemini

August 11: Staying Safe Online

• How to recognize fake messages, scam emails, and misleading videos
• Tips for checking if a message or link is real
• Demonstration: Reviewing suspicious emails with the help of AI
• Group quiz: Practice identifying scams and deep fakes
• Take-home handout: Online safety checklist and trusted resources

August 18: Using AI in Everyday Life

• How to use AI to create to-do lists, get reminders, or find health information
• Demonstration: Asking AI for help with daily questions and tasks
• Group activity: Work with AI to complete a real-life task
• Reflection: What you learned and how you might use AI moving forward
• Printed summary: Everyday uses of AI and where to go next

Program guides and printed materials will be provided each week.
Technical support will be available before and after each session.
