Although DNA testing is the only way to tell with complete and absolute certainty what mushroom you have found, in this class you will learn the basics of mushroom identification. You will become more familiar with the major mushroom groups from a morphological standpoint and learn the basic characteristics of fungi including cap and stipe features, how to use a key, make a spore print and more! Get prepared with everything you need to know to safely identify mushrooms before you start collecting.
This class is taught by Hunter Le Duc. In addition to being a member of the Illinois Mycological Association, the Wisconsin Mycological Society, The Prairie State Mushroom club and the Gulf State Mycological Society. Hunter is certified as a Wild Mushroom Expert by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
