Learn how pain works, why it persists, and what can be done to manage it, from Dr. Meghan Kennedy, Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Midwest Neurobehavioral Center.

Chronic pain is more than a physical experience—it’s shaped by the brain, nervous system, and behavior. In this interactive session, participants will learn how pain works, why it persists, and what can be done to manage it. Drawing from evidence-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic practices, LENS® Neurofeedback, and Empowered Relief®, this class offers practical tools to calm the nervous system, reduce suffering, and improve quality of life.

We will cover:

  • What chronic pain is and how it differs from acute pain;
  • How the brain and nervous system shape pain experiences;
  • The role of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in pain; and
  • Evidence-based strategies to manage pain and improve quality of life

Participants will gain awareness of treatment options available.

Dr. Meghan Kennedy is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in treating chronic pain and trauma, using evidence-based approaches such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
