Learn about Illinois Chief Chicagou's 1725 visit to France that inspired Jean Philippe Rameau's Les Indes Galantes. Presented by Andrew Schultze, specialist in early music and opera interpretation.

Andrew Schultze will tell the story of Chief Agapit Chicagou's voyage to Paris, France, 300 years ago where he met King Louis XV. Chief Chicagou of the Mitchigamea tribe went hunting with the king and danced the Dance of the Peace Pipe. Learn how this inspired composer Jean Phillippe Rameau to write his opera Les Indes Galante.
