Join us for an event with Liz Heinecke, author of "Radiant", a book about Loie Fuller and Marie Curie. 160 years since her birth, Loie Fuller's hometown of Hinsdale celebrates her life.
Loie Fuller was born at the Castle Inn in then-Fullersburg, IL in 1862. Known for her innovative choreography, Loie danced in Chicago and across the country before making her Paris debut in 1892 where she became arguably the most famous dancer in the world. Now, 160 years since her birth, Loie's hometown of Hinsdale celebrates her life with a series of events sponsored by the Hinsdale Public Library, Hinsdale Historical Society, Fullersburg Foundation, and District 181 Foundation.
The Library will host Liz Heinecke, author of Radiant: The Dancer, The Scientist, and a Friendship Forged in Light which explores the real-life friendship of Loie Fuller and Marie Curie. These two revolutionary women were drawn together at the turn of the century in Paris by their shared passion for enlightenment.
As a special treat, we will raffle off five copies of Radiant for Liz Heinecke to sign during the event!
